Winning The Energy Battle With Wind And Sun
June 26th, 2012
Winning the energy battle with wind and sun depends on a variety of factors. The biggest factor will be the continued cost of the technology used for these alternative energy sources. Fossil fuels that are used for energy production continue to be cheaper to use than alternative sources.
Renewable energy sources from wind and the sun need to compete and be affordable to fossil fuels that are used to create energy. The most mature and largest of these renewable energy sources is power from wind. Solar power has not yet reached a large scale to provide continued use. This type of power is still a great option for homes and buildings.
Solar and wind power does not have the capability to provide electricity or power on demand. This is a major component for companies supplying power for consumers. A transmission grid is needed to have electricity that is generated from wind farms and solar panels to major cities. Once the cost for the lines decreases to an affordable level, availability of wind and sun power is a viable option.
Currently wind and solar power farms require storage for energy that is created. A cost-effective means to store energy on the electrical grid will change the game for wind and sun energy. Still bored? Click to continue: Hybrid Wind and Solar Powered Streetlamps Can Run Off-Grid
