Creating A Green Energy Community Every Mile

Green and eco-friendly communities are growing in popularity, but many areas are lacking in growth simply because they do not know where to begin. Building a green community is more than having recycling bins, compost collections, and a “Green Day”, at a local school. It means that are particular group of folks are sensitive and committed to creating, using, and supporting green energy sources every step of the way. Here are some ways to consider.
The creation of a large local farmers’ market that is used all year long is good for the local economy of any community. The items that cannot be used should go to a community compost so that everyone can use it for spring gardens.
A community should give incentives for the use of solar enrgy, windpower, and weatherization efforts in the area. Giftcards to local restaurants can be a great way to reward the community.
There should be bulk recycling done, and the proceeds used to fund youth projects, and other human service projects in which the whole community can benefit. This helps everyone.
Finally, there should be a mandate that environmental friendly building materials be used in all current projects and no exceptions. Eco-friendly, all the way.
